About Us

Dr. Kerry Garrity has been practicing in the Louisville area since graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. To fulfill her dream of practicing quality medicine in a warm and friendly environment, Dr. Garrity and her husband opened their own small animal hospital in October of 2007.

Dr. Garrity is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. The Downtown Animal Hospital offers state of the art medical facilities (including digital radiographs and full in house laboratory) and treatments. As a dedicated member of the veterinary community, Dr. Garrity and The Downtown Animal Hospital enjoy working with various rescue organizations, The Woodstock Animal Foundation, the Animal Protection Agency and Saving Sunny. Her hobbies include volunteer work, traveling and spending time with family.

Kiley graduated from University Of South Carolina with a B.S. in Marine Science in 2004.

Kiley is our part time Vet Tech. She has been with The Downtown Animal Hospital since it opened in 2007.  She and Dr. Garrity have worked together for ten years in total. Currently, Kiley has seven animals, five cats ( Flick,  Alice, Hilary, Midge, and Guido) and two dogs (Jaycee and Daisy) and all of them are Kiley’s perfect little angels (except for when they’re not). All of them were rescues, usually fosters or special needs cats that she couldn’t bare to adopt out. Kiley has always been crazy about animals and the number of them she has just proves it.   Recently, Kiley and her husband added a two legged member to the family, her daughter Molly. When not taking care of all her animals and Molly, Kiley likes to travel, and take hikes in Kentucky’s beautiful parks.

Lauren and Tater

Lauren is our full-time Veterinary Technician.  She has worked in the veterinary field for a total of seven years. She and her husband Evan are originally from West Monroe, Louisiana but moved here so  Evan could attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  At home she has Tater, a great pyrenees mix and Spurgeon, a feisty black kitty.  Lauren loves her job but when she isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and crafts of all kinds.

Desiree  joined us in September of 2015 as our receptionist.  Desiree has been in the veterinary field for a while, having worked for seventeen years in animal hospitals both here and in California.  When she is not working, Desiree loves taking care of her two dogs and two cats (all rescues), fostering small fur babies, reading, cooking and chasing Pokemon.

Kalia is our part-time Veterinary Assistant. She graduated in 2013 with a  Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a minor in Spanish.  Si! Habla espanol.

After traveling some of the world, Kalia decided to return home to take up   pre-veterinary classes at IUS with the hope of earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the future.  Between working and studying, Kalia likes to spend time outdoors with her fury companion, Todd, and reading.  She has always loved science and animals –including bugs.  Feel free to ask her about her moth research when you stop in!

Sydney is our new friendly face at the front desk as our part-time receptionist with a kind smile and a great laugh.  She has been in the field as a Veterinary Receptionist for several years now and is a great addition to our team.  When she isn’t working Sydney has more than enough at home to keep her busy with two kids and two four-legged children, a French Bulldog and a Boxer.
